The place we were going was best described as not one but both of the following:
I did in July with 10 wonderful men who took the challenge to not only walk the Kokoda Track but to also raise funds for Telethon.
This trip is one of complete opposites; it's an amazing country with warm and caring people and unbelievable views. We retraced the footsteps of our “diggers”, the camaraderie and mateship which will last forever and the feeling we had every evening when we walked into camp tired but completely exhilarated as well as the knowledge that we were helping our sick children here in Western Australia.
We were faced with tough, muddy, heart wrenching, steep vertical climbs and steeper vertical descents, sheer drop offs, rain, and the endless climbing up or down where we had to constantly watch where we were placing our feet with every step.
Mud, mud and more mud.
The Kokoda Track is a life changing experience and one well worth doing as I’m sure my dear friends and anyone who has been would agree.
The fundraising has not finished yet but we'll keep you informed as to how much we raise for Telethon this year. We would like to extend a big THANK YOU to all those who have donated and helped towards this great cause!
I'll be joining them one more time for Telethon again next year if you want to join me...
