Ranger outdoors

About Us

Ranger Outdoors started out with humble beginnings in Perth 1985.  Founders, and great mates, Ashley Forde and Paul Youngman started the company through buying and selling new and used camping gear – the company was known as Ranger Caravan & Camping Equipment Supplies.

In 1987 they first began trading as Ranger Camping in a small outlet in Wungong, a suburb near Armadale in Perth, Western Australia.  The brand become better known and developed through appearances at shows throughout the state, such as the Caravan and Camping Show.

The first concept store and head office were opened in Cannington in 1989.  In 1991 the Balcatta store opened and was the larger of the two, and over the years has tripled its size.  Cannington moved to the Bentley premises in the mid 90’s, and is still in the very store that stands where it is today, with a few changes of course!

In August 2000 the Morley store opened, giving Ranger Camping a more eastern reach.  In 2002 the first franchised store opened in Rockingham, taking the place of a no longer used roller skating rink.  This was soon followed by the O’Connor store, and then a branding change to Ranger Camping & Outdoors to reflect the group as stocking a larger range of outdoor products.

In late 2006 the group of now 10 stores became known as Ranger Outdoors to further define their commitment to providing the public of Western Australia with everything they need to enjoy the wonderful places our state, country and world has to offer.
